Corporate Journey

Edmund Doyah-Tiemo is a chartered banker, management consultant, and community leader of long standing, whose career spans the banking industry, corporate management, and grassroots development.

He began his professional journey in 1970 with First Bank of West Africa Ltd (now First Bank of Nigeria Ltd). Over the next 22 years, he gained a challenging and well-rounded banking experience at both branch and head office levels. 

His steady rise through the ranks culminated in senior managerial positions, where he distinguished himself as an expert in risk analysis and treasury management.

During his time in the banking sector, Doyah-Tiemo played an important role in the development and implementation of several national economic programs, including:

• The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Scheme for the Federal Ministry of Labour
• The National Economic Reconstruction Fund (NERFUND)
• The World Bank SSE/SME facility
• The African Development Bank (ADB) ESL facility

In 1988, he became a pioneer management staff member involved in establishing the Treasury Department of First Bank, where he contributed significantly to its growth and operations.

After more than two decades in banking, Doyah-Tiemo transitioned into the oil and gas sector, where he currently serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BGI Energy Services Limited, a leading indigenous service provider in Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

Beyond his corporate career, he has been deeply involved in community development initiatives in the Niger Delta. Between 2005 and 2009, he played a central role in the formation of the Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF), a tripartite grassroots development body established by Chevron Nigeria Limited, the Delta State Government, and the host communities of Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.

Within the EGCDF, Doyah-Tiemo served as the Pioneer General Secretary (2005–2009) and later as Chairman (2009–2012). 

He also held positions within the Community Engagement Management Board (CEMB), where he served as Secretary from 2006 to 2009 and has remained a board member since 2009.

His career reflects a rare combination of professional excellence, corporate leadership, and grassroots engagement, marking him as both a technocrat and a community leader.
